Newcastle College requires a dedicated, enthusiastic person to take on the role of Food Service Assistant working in our very own Lifestyle Bistro.
This is an opportunity for the right candidate to join a well-motivated, cohesive, and successful team and to support our ever-growing provision of excellent facilities for all our students and contributing to a great working environment for our staff.
The main responsibility of this role includes working independently in supporting the day-to-day operational service of food and drink within one of our Real working environments, supporting team members to work towards budgets, and ensuring the department is compliant with any internal or external audits/inspections.
The role of Service Assistant will be integral to ensure the Curriculum department offer a service to all staff and students as well as external visitors which is in line with current industry practice and standards with a varied offer and good value. This will also support Curriculum staff within Hospitality by promoting key services across Newcastle College with high-quality learning programmes across multiple disciplines and levels within further and adult education.
This post requires a strong background in food Service industry and the candidate must have a proven track record of professional and vocational expertise, including Barista trained.
It is desirable that the candidate has a vocational relevant qualification to (Level 2) or relevant industry experience and hold English and Maths qualifications at level 2. It is also desirable that the candidate has experience of working within an educational setting.
An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines, strong verbal and written communication skills are also essential. The hours of work will predominantly include evenings in line with student demand.
The Hospitality department is a well-respected and positive place to work, where colleagues work effectively together to ensure all stakeholders get the best value from every aspect of the curriculum offer.
